Stone Tooth Tavern

From the front entrance of this musty tavern, you see those of almost every type, from Elves, to Dwarves, and even a small group of Orcs in the back, dark corner. A thick smoke hangs in the air, giving an odor mixed of pipe tobacco, burning pine, roasting meat, and the mingling of scents of many species. The tavern winches wear low necked blouses, with overly abundant breasts threatening to burst out of them. The barman is a large man, with grease stains covering his apron. You hear the strumming of music being played from a poorly made harp by a young girl. Off to one side of the Tavern there are games of chance being played for large amounts of money.

Darien Silver enters the Tavern, taking in the crowd with a sweeping glance. Slowly he moves towards the back of the tavern, taking a seat so that his back is against the wall. Ordering an elven wine from the barmaid, and paying with an extra silver, he sits back and watches the room from under the cowl of his leaf gold colored cloak.

Darien sits at the table drinking his wine while listening to a pin drop from across the room.

"well, so much for that dagger" Darian states at the dagger hits the wall lengthwise and breaks in two.

Upstairs a door can be heard, being thrust open with a loud bang. A woman's voice howlers some profanity. There's some shuffling followed loud clattering of a young man rolling down the stairs followed by a large dog that looked rather wolfish, but much larger and sleeker.

As he lands on the floor Kodiak looks up at the staring crowd, "the lady doesn't like dogs" he says with an impish grin and a twinkle in his eyes.

Darien looks sideways at the commotion, eying the situation with wariness.

no sooner than the commotion settles in the tavern a very sharp, bitter-cold wind blows through the crowd, causing everyone to shiver despite themselves. A black shadow seems to form around the batwing doors as they suddenly swing inwards with apparantly no help at all.

a rather tall thin man in black robes walks in the door and walks towards the bar, completely ignoring the man laying on the floor next to the dog, as if he cant be bothered with such a sight. he almost seems to glide through the shadows of the place and with his hood pulled completely forward it is hard to make out any distinction in his face.

The young man on the floor shakes his head, stands up with a laugh, brushing himself off, then goes to the bar for a drink. Downs the first drink and takes a second, then scans the room still grinning. Taking in the various people in the room and the game players who have resumed their game by now. He notices the broken dagger and chuckles, judging from where the dagger had come from.

Pulling his eyes from the man and the dog, Darien watches the shadow glide through the tavern. he leans back in his chair, steepling his fingers infront of his chin in thought. Hearing the other man chuckle, he spares a moment to see why. Seeing that it is over the dagger, he cocks his right eyebrow at the man, then returns to his scrutiny of the new stranger.

Kodiak not the least bet shy heads over to the elf's table, dog in tow, swings a chair around, throwing his leg over the chair. He lowers the mug down to the dog for a lap of the good stuff. Looking at the dark stranger gliding along the floor asks "what do ya make of that?"

Darien looks across the table at the half elf, taking a sip of his wine. After a moment he finally shakes his head. "Seems to me that someone wants to make a show of trying to mysterious."

"Give me a mug of black ale" the stranger says to the bartender in a low gravely voice. the bartender hands the man a mug of thick, black liquid with very little head on the top.

the man pays for his drink and takes it back accross the tavern to a shadowy corner, almost disapearing into the dark booth. the only part of him visible is his eyes which seem to glow a dull goldish color. he is staring accross the room at the two elves and the dog sitting at the table a few feet away. his attention seems to be drawn to these two more than any of the other colorful patrons.

"i wonder what the story is between those two?" the shadow says. he says this rather loudly for someone talking to his self. almost as if he wanted to be overheard.

"they look rather uncomfortable for table companions" he says, again in the same tone of voice.

A singular bark comes from the dog. Looking down, Kodiak pats him on the head. "Well we might just get an answer to our question Kristo."

Turning his head over to the elf who has been a stranger to him till a moment ago, he gave him a wink, then looked over at the shadowy figure. With a half grin, staring directly into the golden eyes of the mysterious figure he said,"you might feel the same if you just met up with your estranged half brother a mooment ago, but everone has to start some where." Kodiak is avoiding looking into the elf's eyes.

"What's your story?"

"not much, have just roamed the lands since my entire clan was killed in an orc raid two years ago. The first to leave the glenn in five generations, and now I am all that is left."

Looking over his shoulder at the loud stranger, he shakes his head and signals for the barmaid.

Once the barmaid arrives, he whispers in her ear, and after a few moments of hushed confersation, he palms her some coins. She quickly slips the coins into her coin pouch and rushes into the back. After a few moments, she comes back out, carrying a large metal mug. She takes the mug to the dark stranger and sets it down on his table in front of him, gives a quick smile, and rushes off.

"time to find out what this one is made of"

"There you go ruining all me fun.We could of made up so tale the bards would of told for centuries and what do you do? You go spinning a depressing story that your whole clan has been destroyed and your the only one left. How am I suppose to continue on as your half brother? -Gee!"

Get's up walks over to the shadowy figure, asks "do you mind if I join you". Without waiting for an answer takes a chair and turns it facing the elf whiling talking all the time to this figure. "Now that's how you destroy the start of a good story, what am I to do with that? I suppose you have a better story thaen his?" Takes a sip of his ale.. the dog comes and sits by his alertly.

"And where is mypint of ale?" he demands with a grin

he gives the bar-maid a distrustful look. not that many people can see it beyond a slight narrowing of the eye. he pulls a small pouch out of his robes, reaches in, and whispers a few words. the mug begins to glow softly...

Kodiak raises an eyebrow"are you making a point here?"

While the drink has a small amount of magic that seems to be inherent, nothing of the telling shows of any kind of danger. The liquid seems to be a strong spirit of deep red.

He looks back at the man across the table from him. "Are you saying that you are wanting to be tested?" he cocks his eyebrow at him in question, then starts watching the stranger from the corner of his eye again.

"no point." he mutters.

"just my safety and distrust."

he takes a slow sip of the deep red concoction. his eyes widen slowly as the drink hits his throat. he raises the remainder of the mug towards the stranger. "its good although i could not figure out how it was made involving the Craft. pray tell me what it is you have bought me."
